There is no denying the business world is facing circumstances never seen before. It's hard not to get bogged down by changing parameters and restrictions, but the promising news is there are plenty of opportunities right at our fingertips.
2022 may present some of the same challenges we’ve been facing since the pandemic began, but it also allows us to use prior experiences for change. When we know better, we do better. And in business, that’s a fundamental strategy for success.
With C-Suite executives at the helm of corporate change, what exactly are the driving factors for growth this year? Before we can meet (and exceed) consumer demands, we must reflect on the needs within our internal structure.
Here are five strategies to implement for a successful team this year:
1. Communication is Key- How many times have you sat through a meeting and thought about whether it was really necessary? Apply the same thought process to your communications with your team. The more you relay things happening behind the scenes, the more connected and invested others will feel.
Aside from face-to-face contact, many industry leaders have found ways to make communication more personal. Consider sharing motivation videos, updates, and even giveaways through social channels. Doing so will encourage employees to do the same, helping you get your message across and spread the word about your company.
2. Establish Trust- Fostering team building, especially with the uptick in remote work, must remain a top priority. The trust developed with your immediate work circle is equally important as the trust your team develops with others. Focus on how employees work together and communicate, making sure to quell tension before it evolves.
3. Rethink the Remote Workplace- With more employees working from home and many slated to stay that way for the foreseeable future, C-Suite leaders need to discover new ways to reach their team and ensure needs are met. It's challenging with employees in various locations, but the formula is simple: Talk to everyone you can (at all levels), and listen carefully to what they say. Even a quick call to say hello and check-in will be well received and impactful.
4. Seek First-Hand Accounts- Speaking of listening, your employees, at all levels, are your best data source. Their input provides the valuable data needed to foster positive change within the organization. Periodically check in to assess job satisfaction and company climate. While hiring is stalling and turnovers rates are increasing, investing in your team is invaluable.
5. Prioritize Innovation- If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that quick thinking and the ability to adapt are critical. The same applies in business. Be willing to take risks on employees capable of bringing forth new and innovative ideas. Encourage collaboration, research, and reflection among team members.
While we cannot guarantee this year will not be without challenges, having a strategic plan of action and a solid, dedicated team supporting you will pave the way for a successful year.
